GREG KEEL - BARI SAX
Greg is on the faculty at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis and St. Olaf College in Northfield MN. He is also a conductor and teaching artist with the MacPhail Jazz Combo Program, Summer Workshops and Community Partnership residencies. Greg hosts Twin Cities Saxophone Day, the Midwest's largest annual saxophone event co-produced with McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul. He has been a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, Macalester College in St Paul, Century College in St. Paul, and Normandale College in Minneapolis. Greg is a program director at the Shell Lake Arts Center in Shell Lake, WI.Greg has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, Mel Torme, The Temptations, Andy Williams, The O'Jays, Lou Rawls, Frankie Valli, Johnny Mathis, Natalie Cole, The Fifth Dimension and Bob Hope. His students have received numerous recognitions from DownBeat magazine, with outstanding college soloist winners in their annual Student Music Awards, and as members of the Outstanding College Big Bands. Greg's private students are frequently in the finalist ensembles in the Jazz at Lincoln Center programs, the Wisconsin and Minnesota All-State Honors Concert Band and Jazz Ensembles. Many have gone on to successful careers performing with a host of entertainment luminaries.
Mr. Keel studied with William Grahn, Ruben Haugen, Harry Miedema and Brian Grivna. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, Madison, and holds a BA degree from Concordia College in St. Paul. Since 1985, Greg has been an artist/clinican for Selmer Saxophones.
